#016 “Peaceful Easy Feeling”

I built this guitar as a surprise for a dear friend of mine. I’m not so sure her husband thought it was a good idea, because she hugged it and said “I’m going to sleep with it!”

My friend is a very petite person and had been playing a mid-2000’s Martin OM-18. She does online guitar lessons, and for her next lesson, she used the 00-12 unbeknownst to her teacher. He immediately asked what she was playing because she was SO MUCH BETTER. He could hear it!

The reason is that this guitar is smaller and better fit her body. The string spacing is wider for fingerpicking so even tho’ her hands are small, it was easier to work only the strings she wanted too. The live back provided a full sound, and the tuned top provided lots of low end (a problem with the little guitars—they tend to sound tinny).
